Balmoral Offshore Engineering, a division of Balmoral Group, provides surface and subsurface buoyancy, insulation and elastomer products and services to the global energy, defence, subsea communications and oceanographic industries.

We are looking for an IT Support Technician to provide IT support to our business units, undertake administration tasks within the system and create and maintain supporting documentation of the IT systems.

Description

A diverse IT Support role, to provide IT support to multiple companies within our group with offices located around the UK.  To provide a high quality user experience whilst maintaining the integrity and security of the IT systems.  To distribute and manage of our IT assets, and to create and upkeep supporting documentation of systems and processes. Working as part of a small skilled team, this role presents an opportunity to get involved in many different areas of IT and the business.

Candidate will get exposure to the following technologies in the job role:

  • VMWare

  • Cisco (Switches, Phone System, HD CCTV systems)

  • Cisco Meraki Devices

  • Windows Server/Active Directory/SQL/Exchange

  • Autodesk Design Suite/Ansys/Mathcad

  • Bluecielo Document Management System

  • Microsoft Dynamics GP

  • Mitrefinch Time & Attendance systems

  • Citrix

  • IBM Maximo

  • Apple and Windows Mobile Devices

     

    Main Duties

  • To provide first line support to computer users within the organisation

  • To operate the helpdesk and manage ticketing system

  • Prioritising and managing many open cases at one time

  • Educating users where appropriate to reduce repeat support calls

  • Investigating, diagnosing and solving computer software and hardware faults

  • Installing and configuring computer hardware, software, systems, networks, printers, and phones (mobiles and fixed)

  • Ordering, configuring, and distributing IT equipment

  • Performing routine maintenance on the IT system and computers

  • Asset management and tracking, responsible for keeping assets up to date

  • Performing IT inductions for new employees

  • To maintain security of the IT system, to uphold policies and procedures

  • Developing supporting documentation

  • Create and maintain good working relationships both internally and externally

  • Undertake small to medium-sized IT projects as instructed by the IT Manager

  • Work extra hours to meet deadlines, perform out of hours work when upgrades are required, and occasionally travel to our other offices for specific projects or support issues

  • Other ad hoc tasks as required

     

Qualifications

Required:        

  • A computing based subject from school, college or university

    Desirable:        

  • HND or above in a computing related course

     

Experience

This role would suit both someone looking for an entry-level positon in IT, and equally someone who has some experience in an IT related role.  We are looking for a positive and motived person to join our team who has a real passion for IT and helping people
